How OG Math transformed its email marketing and boosted sales by 127% in 90 days

From $40,000 to $91,000 per month in just 90 days.

OG Math helps teachers, para-professionals, and parents teach mathematics in a fun, engaging, and genuinely effective way — through online courses, printed books, and a growing community. The product was strong and the audience was loyal, but email was stuck: a 38% open rate, flat engagement, and $40,000/month in revenue with no path to growth. We rebuilt the programme around value-led content, behavioural segmentation, and disciplined A/B testing. Ninety days later email revenue had more than doubled.

The challenge

  • Low open rates — only 38% of subscribers were opening emails, well below education-sector benchmarks.
  • Lack of engagement — emails weren't connecting; subscribers weren't clicking, replying, or acting.
  • Flat sales — monthly email revenue was stuck at $40,000 with no clear path to growth.
  • Root cause: one list, one message. No personalisation, no segmentation, no testing — and design-heavy templates that felt corporate and impersonal.

The results

  • 61%Open rate — up 23 points from 38%
  • $91KMonthly email revenue — more than double
  • 127%Overall sales growth

The strategy

Pillar 1 — Valuable content over constant promotion

Educational emails twice a week with practical tips on making maths fun. Giving value first built trust and positioned OG Math as the go-to expert rather than a seller. Open rates climbed because the content was worth opening — and promotion became a natural next step instead of an interruption.

Pillar 2 — Advanced segmentation

Subscribers were split by behaviour and purchase history. Course buyers received advanced tips and complementary recommendations, browsers got introductory offers and social proof, and inactive subscribers were re-engaged with high-value free content. Relevance went up, and so did results.

Pillar 3 — A/B testing: plain text won by a landslide

Designed, template-heavy emails were tested against simple plain-text emails that read like a personal note. Plain text won decisively — teachers and parents wanted authenticity, not polish. Less friction meant higher click-through and more action. In education marketing, authenticity outperforms aesthetics every time.

Key takeaways

Personalisation works — tailored emails consistently outperform generic blasts.
Less is more — plain text beat designed templates; your audience wants a conversation, not a brochure.
Segmentation drives results — the right message to the right person at the right time is the foundation.

Pre-launch campaign for an emerging ecommerce bag brand

Driving anticipation, engagement, and early sales for a signature product launch.

An emerging ecommerce brand was preparing to launch its signature bag with a small but dedicated list of ~800 subscribers and no historical launch benchmarks. The risk was a cold launch. We built a two-week pre-launch journey across email, SMS, and a dedicated countdown landing page — storytelling before selling, visual-first communication, and gradual engagement from curiosity to purchase readiness. The list grew 275% and email drove the overwhelming majority of launch revenue.

The challenge

  • Limited subscribers — launching a new product to a list of roughly 800 people.
  • No historical data — no previous launch benchmarks or insights to guide strategy.
  • Avoiding a cold launch — a critical need to warm the audience and prevent low engagement.
  • Owned-channel reliance — high dependence on email and SMS for direct communication and sales.

The results

  • 275%Increase in email sign-ups
  • $7,000 / $9,000Launch revenue driven by email in 3 days
  • $6,783Email revenue vs $2,717 other channels
  • 3,000Subscribers at launch, up from 800

The strategy

The journey approach

Rather than announcing a launch date, the campaign guided subscribers through a product journey: storytelling before selling, visual-first communication, and gradual engagement that moved people from curiosity to interest to purchase readiness. Email, SMS, and the website were aligned around one cohesive narrative.

Email & SMS execution

A carefully sequenced set of pre-launch emails and texts primed subscribers: high-quality visuals from multiple angles, colour variations and aspirational lifestyle shots, short videos highlighting features and craftsmanship, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content on the bag-making process — building emotional connection and trust ahead of launch.

Website optimisation & list growth

The site was transformed with a dedicated countdown landing page: immersive product videos, lifestyle imagery, visual previews of the design details, and a prominent email sign-up call-to-action. Sign-ups grew from 800 to 3,000 subscribers across the two-week pre-launch window.

Key takeaways

Consistent pre-launch communication built familiarity and trust over time.
Visual storytelling let subscribers vividly imagine owning the product.
Behind-the-scenes content created emotional investment in the craftsmanship.
Omni-channel alignment across email, SMS, and web delivered one seamless experience.
